PMJ'S STORY

PMJ'S STORY

IT'S WHAT'S INSIDE.

Inside every great idea there is a story. Ours began with a fall.

From a motorcycle fall to an idea that keeps traveling the world.

Born from a fall, a motorcycle slide, a pair of regular jeans that failed to protect, and the insight that changed everything: why can't trousers make you feel free without compromising on safety?

This is what an aching but unharmed 30-year-old motorcyclist, Andrea Sassi, owner of PMJ, asked himself back then.

From that question PMJ was born, fueled by the authentic passion of those who live and breathe motorcycles every single day. From an idea that seemed impossible, yet revolutionized how rider gear is conceived.

Andrea wanted to push boundaries: he wanted to combine the style of casual jeans with real protection for dedicated riders, and he wanted it to be proudly made in Italy.

Our roots are in denim.

Yet, our story begins even before the birth of the brand.

We are in Sant'Angelo in Vado, in the Marche region, in the province of Pesaro and Urbino. An area known as the Jeans Valley, where specialized denim workshops and factories have flourished for decades. Here, jeans are not merely clothing, but a craft made of fabrics, washes, treatments, and expertise handed down over time.

Andrea grew up in this environment, within a family working in the textile industry. In 2008, his father Giancarlo and mother Luisa retired and closed their business... around the same time, Andrea decided to take it over and bring together what he knew best: the world of denim and a passion for two wheels.

Thus, in 2009, ProMo Jeans was born—short for Protezione Moto Jeans (Motorcycle Protection Jeans). Today, simply PMJ.

Safety is not a detail.

From the outset, Andrea had a clear objective, requiring research, development, rigorous material testing, and an uncompromising focus on protection.

We chose to invest in specific technical solutions, including the use of ballistic aramid Twaron® fabric (find out more), virtually unknown at the time, which allowed us to create the TITANIUM model, the only jeans in the world to achieve Level 2 certification under standard EN 13595-1, a milestone that defined our journey in developing protective motorcycle apparel.

Over time, we have engineered increasingly advanced models, technologies, and single-layer fabrics capable of combining abrasion resistance, comfort, and freedom of movement.

FATTO IN ITALIA. Truly.

There is a choice that has guided us from day one and that we have never been willing to compromise on: manufacturing in Italy.

We do not simply design an Italian product only to have it made on the other side of the world; our production relies on a network of companies and professionals who safeguard skills honed over decades of industry experience.

For us, this choice means valuing people's work and continuing to believe in a region that gave us the knowledge needed to build our future.

That is why we prefer to write it in our own language.
Not Made in Italy, but FATTO IN ITALIA

Style is part of our identity.

We have always wanted to prove that motorcycle jeans can be protective without sacrificing aesthetics. We have developed diverse models across cuts, styles, and fits to meet the needs of every rider, offering today a broad range of about 30 models for men and women.

Each model stems from an idea, takes shape through a prototype, and is refined until the perfect balance of aesthetics, protection, and comfort is achieved. We want to create distinctive trousers with a personality of their own that can be worn with pleasure even off the bike.

Because protecting yourself should never mean giving up on being yourself and embracing your own style.

From ITALY to over 60 countries worldwide.

What began as a personal intuition has gradually traveled a very long way, step by step.

Today, PMJ is present in over 60 countries worldwide, thanks also to the partnership with agents, distributors, and thousands of official retailers who bring our products to riders every day.

A growth that fills us with pride, especially considering where we started.

And yet, despite achieving an international reach, the heart of the company has remained right here, in our local region. A team of six people who oversee every detail with the same dedication as when it all began.
